Whispering Palms is a gorgeous vintage beach home located just 1 ½ blocks from the beach!

Lovingly restored, it is both vintage and modern….clapboard walls, painted floors, vintage décor along with flat screen TVs and stainless steel appliances; the very best of both worlds!

One of the best features (there are too many to list!) is the beautiful yard and gardens featuring hydrangeas, old oaks, decks, a fire pit, a gazebo, lots of seating and gathering areas AND a private pool! The outdoor space of this beautiful home is truly amazing!

Another awesome feature of this home is that it is pet-friendly; something we know many of our Mermaid guests will appreciate! Here’s a few of the numerous details that make this home a true gem! Master King Suite on top floor with walk in shower and separate Jacuzzi plus its own private porch. Also located on the top floor is the 2nd, 3rd and 4th bedrooms. Bedroom #2 has a queen bed with private full bath (tub/shower combo), Bedroom #3 has a full bed and a twin bed with a full bath (tub/shower combo) and Bedroom #4 has a king bed with a shared bath.

Middle Level features a living area with 70-inch flat screen TV, dining area, kitchen and a porch off of the living area. Also a rear deck off of the kitchen/dining area features a table with seating for 4. There is also a front porch with seating for 2. The 5th and 6th bedrooms are also located on this level with the 5th bedroom featuring a queen bed with a shared full bath (tub/shower combo). 6th bedroom features a queen bed with a private full bath (tub/shower combo).

At the ground level, you will access the garden, private pool (NOTE: POOL IS HEATED) with seating for 10 or more plus a covered gazebo, fire pit, charcoal grill. There is a bath house at the pool area that includes a shower and full bath so guests do not have to access main house for bath accommodations. The main garden features multiple seating areas and umbrellas.

There is covered parking for 2 vehicles.

  We are a family of 10 and this house gave us may places to hang out. The fenced in yard with pool was beautiful, two screen porches to use during the day of rain and a large, kitchen/dining area to cook and eat in was perfect. We walked to the beach everyday and also enjoyed several sunsets at another walkable beach. All in all I have NO cons to say about this rental except not a fan of charcoal grilling. We plan on returning in the future.

  This was a wonderful venue for six couples to gather prior to a wedding. The house is wonderful but really loved the large kitchen with its oversized center island. The house has many outside areas from open decks to large screened in porches to gazebo to fire pit to pool to another tree shaded table set. All perfect to get away or have private conversations. The beachy vibe house was clean and the staff incredibly helpful. The house location makes for a very short walk to the beach, back river and pier, restaurants and beach shops.   Our family of 11 stayed at Whispering Palms for the first time this year after years in another house. We loved the vintage ambience of this restored home with its spaces and nooks for time alone and together. We loved it's amazing outdoor amenities even more! The poolside garden with its walkways, firepit, pergola, and seating areas were our favorite spots in the afternoons and evenings. My husband and I, in our late 70's, loved the spacious screened porch overlooking the garden, and spent hours with our books, cooled by the ocean breeze and the "whispering palms." The back entrance from this area, with fewer steps and sturdy rails, enabled my husband to access the main level. It is not wheel chair accessible. The updated, well-equipped kitchen was perfect for making family meals. Closeness to the beach, shops, and restaurants was amazing. Most of all, the quietness of this location, even as cars turned to access the beach, created a safe, serene environment for all ages. We loved it!

  My family spent Christmas 2021 at wonderful Whispering Pines on Tybee. The Mermaid team was absolutely fantastic. Great communication every step of they way. They went above and beyond by decorating the house for Christmas, complete with Christmas tree! The home is so charming and perfectly suited our needs, with a bedroom and private bathroom for everyone. The firepit and pool/garden area are lovely and we ere able to get wood and firestarter logs at the coneninence store around the corner. The location was perfect for us. Short walk to the beach, sunset on the marsh, and last minute shopping in town. Extremely well equipped kitchen, lovely outdoor spaces, beach charm, comfortable beds, plenty of privacy and walk to anywhere you want to go. Even the dog was ecstatic. Perfection!

  The house was perfectly located - close to the beach, close to restaurants and shops. Mermaid Cottages were wonderful with communication. The property had plenty of room for our party of 8 (4 adults & 4 kids) inside and out. The outside area makes you feel like you are in a secluded forest when your less than 2 blocks to the beach. We would highly recommend and would stay here again! Get a gulf cart and keep your car parked at the house. With the gulf cart you don't have to pay to park and the island is easy to maneuver on a gulf cart, plus its a great way to experience the island.

  Whispering Palms is a terrific home in a prime location on Tybee Island. The beach is about a 2 minute walk away, but the home is positioned in a way that it feels secluded. The pool and outdoor areas are top notch and the home was more than comfortable for our group of 6 adults and 4 kiddos. And added bonus is the awesome art that is hung throughout.
  
  One added bonus: the staff at Mermaid Cottages was terrific! Tammy made sure we were well taken care of and informed throughout our stay.

  We really enjoyed our stay at Whispering Pines. We were disappointed that the pool heater was not working, as the temperatures at Tybee were cool at the time we were there. The location was excellent. The home was clean and the kitchen was well supplied with all you need to fix meals. Our family of eleven felt at home and enjoyed the fire pit and outside patio every evening.

  I cannot express how much this vacation meant to me and my family. We wanted to get out of town because we lost a loved one and figured Christmas would be different this year. This was exactly what we needed. From day one of booking this amazing home, the people at Mermaid Cottages went above and beyond to make this amazing. To be specific, Mermaid Cottages offered to decorate the home with a few Christmas decorations! It was an amazing gesture and one that my grandpa and mother loved so much. The home overall was beautiful. We were able to cook a great dinner every night in the amazing kitchen, have family time by the fire pit on the amazing back patio/yard and have comfortable rooms for all of the family while we stayed. It truly was a vacation we will never forget. The location was perfect, the home was beautiful and we are more than incredibly satisfied with how it all worked out. Thank you Mermaid Cottages for giving our family an experience we will never forget.

  Mermaid Cottages were highly recommended. I booked the largest home to accommodate 6 guests comfortably. Mermaids Reservations staff were very attentive, flexed with my group's size & date changes. Favorite part about the home was proximity to beach & fabulous outdoor patio area. Please consider supplying one evening firepit's worth of kindling and 3 logs. For pandemic safety, we were instructed to bring own soap (? - soap kills virus). Other safety concerns included the kitchen ~ a piece of hardwood flooring popped up, cut/injured guest's foot; in living room -- sisal carpet edge not secured well (tripping hazard). Called management about these, they acknowledged but I dealt with both hazards. Also reported not-properly-working cieling fan, pool needed cleaning. Living room furniture's white slipcovers were not clean enough. This rental cottage, though lovely, did not meet my expectations for the $$$ price.

  We had 3 generations visiting from Virginia. He were a bit nervous about traveling during a pandemic, but Mermaid Cottages were excellent and really made us feel like they had things under control. The property was clean and beautiful. We loved every moment. The kids only got out of the pool long enough to eat, sleep, and play in the tide pools. We all enjoyed hanging out on the beautiful screened porch and the awesome yard! This was our 4th trip to Tybee, but only our 1st in a Mermaid Cottages rental. It won't be our last! We can't wait to get back to Whispering Palms. You all are doing a great job and we'll recommend you to anyone wanting to visit Tybee.

  We absolutely loved our stay. The home is what I think of when I hear beach house. Full of character, beautifully and tastefully decorated, fully stocked with everything you could need. Plenty of space for our large group to spread out and to gather as a group. The landscaping was amazing. Also, the Mermaids went above and beyond with thoughtful touches and the best check out procedure possible for a rental. Felt luxurious. Loved the cute bathrooms. Excellent location. Short walk to inlet or beach. Short walk to rent bikes. Ice cream all over the island. My husband and toddler were down for the first part of the week and we adored the vintage high chair. It was perfect and I am now on the hunt for one like it. Can't say enough about this historical home. Would stay again.

  Whispering Palms, set in the perfect location on the island, provided a perfect place for our family to relax in May. The home is well maintained, clean, and beautiful. The pool was a favorite for the teenagers who would settle there after cruising the island on bicycles each day. I loved the coffee kindly provided by Mermaid Cottages, but once I'd drunk it dry, the inn next door-just a few steps- offers wonderful options for espresso before a few more steps to the beach. I would have stayed all summer. It's perfection, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have spent our week in the palms.

  Beautiful, spacious home that's great for a multiple families. Yard was fully fenced with different areas to hang. Perfect for multiple families as you can all be together but spread out as well. VERY close to the downtown area with bars, restaurants and the beach. We rented a golf cart (Tybee Golf Carts) but was so close we didnt even use it. Great customer service though at Tybee Golf Carts. Bathrooms and Kitchen were updated but still had an island feel. Best part for us was the screened in porches! Management was very responsive when I have questions and I will definitely rent from Mermaid Cottages again.
  
  Only negative - this property in on the primary street to the "locals" beach. Every day from 2-6pm there were cars lining the fence of teenagers walking to the beach. That is fine but what shocked me was they were very obviously locals and just threw their empty alcohol cans/bottle all down the street and over our fence. Every morning I cleaned 8-10 beer or seltzer cans out of the landscaping. Tybee needs to invest in more public trash cans on that street if that is the norm.

  Our stay at Whispering Palms was perfect! We all loved the house. It has everything you need for a long or short stay. We had a big group of ladies and what we loved most about the house is that there are so many balconies and sitting areas inside and outside. We had so many places to sit and chat and also so many places to have a little privacy when you wanted to break away. The location is great too. So easy to want to the beach and to the shops and restaurants. The property managers were very communicative and were so kind to send little texts to check in with how the stay was going and to warn about possible bad driving/weather conditions. I would rent this property again any day.

  We had a fun family vacation experience with 6 adults and 3 children, ages 16, 13 and 9. There was plenty of room to spread out and to give each of us space. The pool added lots of laughter and entertainment especially for the kids. The walk to the beach was pleasant. I especially enjoyed walking to the river and then to the pier. The sand is hard and flat for easy walking. It was interesting to observe the quiet river area as it became busier as the pier area neared. There was a nice breeze.

  This was our 6th stay on Tybee Island and in a Mermaid Cottage. There were 12 of us staying in Whispering Palms and it was amazing. The location is perfect and only a block from the beach. Even though it's located near all the action of South Beach and the pier, it feels like it's own private island. We spent most of our time in the backyard, pool and screened in porches. The house is big and open so everyone had their own space and nobody felt cramped. The kitchen was great for family dinners and cookouts. Loved the vintage vibe and attention to detail. The housekeeping staff were so friendly when we arrived a little early and Diane and the mermaids were all fabulous in accommodating us. Can't wait to book next summer!

  Whispering Palms is in a GREAT location. Short walk to the beaches, piers and town area. Their are many porches and sitting areas to get away from the crowd if needed. Staff was more than helpful and tuned in on our needs. I always felt that a vacay house needed to be directly on the beach but this location changed my mind. We walked nearly everywhere we wanted to go. One drawback was the heated pool. The pool is between a hot tub and a pool and did not really meet our expectations but this was not a game changer.

  A group friends and I wanted to spend The Passover, Pasach in an intimate environment instead of a hotel. We wanted together as a family for meals and still have privacy with our spouses.   So loved this house, didn't want to leave the pool! Plenty of room for everyone, quiet and is very convenient to everything, but you don't even notice any traffic, etc. Perfect location! Hope to be back next year...

  Our overall stay was excellent. We did think that you could use a few more pots and pans in the kitchen. There was plenty of room for our crowd of 14 and we had a great time on Tybee Island. We hope to be back soon.

  Very enjoyable! The house was all we expected; clean, had a good parking available. One of the best locations to access beach, stores ( groceries, pizza, & shopping. Can park an walk almost anywhere you would want to go; even Resturant's & Bar. Would recommend to anyone: anytime.

  Simply put, our experience at Whispering Palms was outstanding. Every detail of the house was exceptional and the distance to the beach was perfect for our needs.   The home was great. Very clean and plenty of room. The beach is a short walk away. Take your cooler or just eat at some of the restaurants on the beach. All stores are just around the corner. The grocery store is just a short drive. Very please with everything. Recommend to anyone.

  The house was amazing!!! The pool was heated and was awesome for late-night swims. The back yard is so private it almost feels like you're miles away from the world. The house has so much character and is super cute. The kitchen is stocked very well. We walked to the beach a few times. Having the convenient store a block away was great. A liquor store was also within walking distance.
  
  You will LOVE this house!!!! It's great for a girls weekend. 13 of us slept comfortably.

  Whispering Palms was more than we expected!! The outdoor living spaces alone were amazing! We had two families staying together and this house had more than enough space to accommodate us. Everything was clean and in good working condition when we arrived. The location was perfect for our group--short walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. It DOES get busy with all of the public parking around, but it didn't affect our stay. The porches and yard/patios were awesome! We loved the pool/whirlpool (small pool with jets) and the kids took turns in the hammock! It is a three-story home, so lots of stairs to consider. We would definitely stay here again!

  Whispering Palms was absolutely perfect! Stayed during St. Patrick's Day holiday and the shuttle into Savannah was just a short walk a few blocks away. The house itself was magnificent - beautiful gardens out back and loved the heated pool/spa. Tybee Island is a perfectly laid back beach town - Can't say enough how perfect a fit this was for our family.

  We had family in from Florida, Ohio & GA for an 88th birthday party and wedding. The property couldn't have been more perfect for our group. We had both chilly and warm weather so enjoyed the fire pit, hot tub/pool and sunning on the patio all in one weekend! The kitchen accommodates multiple prep/cooking people and has everything needed to prepare meals for a crowd. There are more than enough place settings, glasses, etc. The grill and oven/warmer made everything flow. It was also nice for some of us to be able to put kids to bed with grandparents in the house and walk to the bars! We biked to anything we couldn't walk to. Overall, an amazing weekend, thanks to the Mermaids!

  Whispering Palms provided great accommodations for 11 people. There's a place for everyone to gather and also have a private quiet place. The lounging pool was a great addition to an already great house. Parking was ample for six vehicles. The location was also prefect and within walking distance of the beach, the shops, and bars/restaurants. Hope to make this an annual event!

  The house is large and perfect for a large family beach vacation. Being an older home and a popular rental, there were a couple of minor issues with the property's condition, but everything was quickly addressed by Mermaid Cottages, whom were very nice and helpful to deal with throughout the entire stay. They were very quick in getting back to us with answers or maintenance to our requests and easy to work with. The house itself is well appointed for a beach vacation and the backyard is incredible.

  This house is beautiful, comfortable, the yard, landscaping and pool are amazing! Lighted trees and shrubbery at night for a serene environment while sitting under the amazing gazebo. Five minute walk to the beach and downtown Tybee. We will be back!
