Cantaloupe Cottage is a classic Mid Century Modern island home built in the 1950’s and completely restored with Central AC and all modern updates, this ground level, pet-friendly home features a large fully fenced back and side yards with views of the Back River and 1.5 blocks to Alley 3- the local Kayak launch area.

3 bedrooms and 1.25 bathrooms (one full bathroom with a tub/shower combo and one shower-only room), plus a Florida room and an amazing kitchen, this home is a little charmer!

  This is our fourth year coming down to Tybee for our annual family vacation. We grew out of the house we normally stay in so some of us decided to venture out and secure a new home to stay in during the week. This was so close to my families home and it's in the exact location we love on the south end of the island.
  The entire house was perfect ( I really appreciated the extra fans they had for use, because I have to sleep with a fan blowing loud on me and it's too much to pack one for every trip). The only complaint I really had, which isn't even really a complaint is the bathroom situation. It would be great to have one more bathroom with at least a toilet, but this issue wouldn't deter me from staying here.
  We hope to stay here for many more of our vacations.

It was such a nice place to just hang out catch up and celebrate together. Conveniently enough AJ's restaurant is within walking distance is a great place to eat and see a beautiful sunset. The 'mermaids" are attentive and so nice, the cottage was so clean and neat, I loved it!!I would totally tell anyone who is going to Tybee to check this place out. My only regret is our dog couldn't join us because of her knee surgery. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable. P.

  All of Tybee kind of has this old ocean side town feel. This house does not disappoint with its bold colors and beachy décor. The house has lots of room to spread out, and ample seating with places to catch some peace and quiet (both inside and out). You can just barely see the ocean across the street and can smell the water.
  
  The major perks to this place:
  
  1) Dog Friendly!!!! With no size restrictions and a fenced yard. We had three dogs ranging in size from sm, med and XL.
  
  2) Besides one wooden step up to enter the house the inside is very flat. Room for a walker and wheelchair to move in the main space. The one exception is the Florida room has a small step down, but does not impact the major living spaces.
  
  3) Heating system was awesome for older guests, and an additional space heater was provided in case someone wanted a different temperature.
  
  Negatives with a retro house:
  
  1) One bathroom in the house, with a window that is permanently open into the Florida room. Any odors, sounds, etc are transmitted through the window to this adjacent room (that contains the TV).
  
  2) Bathroom has no outlets, a small door, and very low toilet. This posed a challenged for my older guest with mobility issues. A walker/rollator can not fit through the bathroom door unless turned sideways.
  
  3) Limited outlets throughout the house and no light switches in the bedrooms. With no outlets in the hallway we had to leave the bathroom light on for kids or grandma to get to the bathroom at night.
  
  The place is well maintained, and the Mermaids check in daily to ensure you're having a good stay. Overall this was a great trip, good price, and we all had a wonderful time!

  We enjoy Tybee so much! The Mermaid Property team is responsive and communative. This vintage cottage is cute and in a south island neighborhood -- just a block away from the river and a kayak launch. The description said view sunsets over the marsh and that is a bit of a stretch given the distance. The yard wasn't in great repair (dirty patio, back yard needed mowing) and there was no hand soap in the one bathroom, and the place could use a deep clean (like blinds and such) but everything else was as described. The rooms are spacious with nice firm beds, no mildew! and the decor is cute. We walked to restaurants and the beach and had a great time!

  Cantaloupe Cottage is a sweet little place located away from the hustle and bustle and perfect for travelers with pets (although we did not have our pets with us). Very close to beach access along the river and standing on the side porch you can catch a glimpse of the water. Nothing fancy about Cantaloupe Cottage but cozy and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The Tiki hut is a lively spot for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. We very much enjoyed our stay and are so grateful to the Mermaids at Mermaid Cottages who came to our rescue to find this place for us during an unplanned longer stay than we had expected. The mermaids were very understanding and allowed us to reschedule for the next week with absolutely no hassle. So, we ended up having a really nice stay at Tybee in a really cute cottage with a nice easy stroll to the beach, sunshine, and fresh air. We had a great time!

  This was our second year at Canty's Cottage. We love the charm and location of the cottage. We also enjoy the patio area and small covered deck on the backyard. The proximity to AJs and the kayak launch/beach area two blocks away is perfect! I would suggest making your golf cart reservations the same time you make your cottage reservation because if you wait until youre there, they will be gone. The only thing that we might suggest that would improve the stay would be adding a second toliet in the back bathroom. One is fine with 3 people but last year we had 5 and it was a little inconvenient to the men who need their toliet time lol. It was scorching hot during our stay and the water at the beach was PERFECT...Cant wait to come back soon! PS. the lock needs some attention as it appears to be loose so we used the deadbolt whenever we left

  We’ve been coming to Tybee Island for 10 years and I’d be delighted if we stay here from now on! The Mermaid Cottage staff is amazing—so accommodating and helpful and available. Canty’s Cottage was PERFECT: it’s on a very quiet street, but very close to AJ’s and the back river (great place to watch sunsets). We rented a golf cart and I was able to drive to the pier in two minutes flat to watch the sun rise. The cottage itself is super charming, with a nice patio and roomy fenced-in backyard for our doggo. We fell in love with the tiki hut, which provided shade and coziness during the day. The place was very clean, with all the amenities, extremely soft linens on the beds, a well-stocked kitchen and wonderful Florida room that we loved so much that we turned off the AC and opened all the windows. We are a couple of old hippies so we loved the vintage-y decor. The place was surprisingly roomy and well laid out. The laundry room is spacious and there are plenty of dressers and places to hide your stuff during your stay. I can’t wait to go back.

We were able to walk and or take our bikes to the beach everyday. Everything was very easy staying at the cottage. We rode our bicycles down the bike route to the local IGA grocery. It was maybe a half mile if that. This was a nice place to relax and I would stay there again. The check in and out process cannot get any easier.

  The cottage was adorable and so comfortable. I could have lived here forever and been very content. Love the beachy touches and great colors throughout. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of room to unpack. Great kitchen and dining room. Gas fireplace and grill were not operational but not a big deal. Water needs to warm up a bit between showers. We would love to return to the cottage on a future visit. Tybee had fun shops and we enjoyed dining at Spanky's and Joe's Crab Shack and shopping at the friendly IGA nearby.

  This home, and the support from the staff, went beyond expectation. The pictures do not do the house justice (it is a hard house to shoot given it's angles). The house is amazing, full of charm and smart spaces. It is right next to the fishing dock, just a few minutes walk away, which leads you to the entire beach area. AJs is also a super short walk away, and with a golf cart, nothing is far. Additionally, the staff once again was amazing in their support. There was nothing "wrong" with this in any way, and I look forward to coming back!

  Perfect cottage for a Tybee getaway! Well maintained and very clean. Well stocked kitchen. Loved the starter supplies from the Mermaids, especially the coffee. Easy walk to beach, restaurants, and pier.
  
  Only suggestion for improvement is to add another ice tray to the freezer.

  Pros: close to the boat launch, The neighbors we met were very nice, the house was clean and we enjoyed the coffee. We felt like we could call someone at any time if we needed to, all of the notes and little reminders with phone numbers and instructions on them were helpful.
  Cons: one of the bedrooms smelt bad, like dirty wet carpet or something. This didnt really affect us as it was only the two of us so we just slept in the other room, but if I had to stay in that room I would have been very bothered by the smell. Also the open window into the bathroom Was not cool, again with just my husband and I that’s one thing but if anyone stayed with us and could hear us going to the bathroom, well that is embarrassing.
  Over all it was a very comfortable place to stay and enjoy the island and we had a very nice time. Thanks

  Canty’s cottage is a delightful place to enjoy Tybee Island and Savannah. It’s close to the bay side of the island but only a few blocks to the Oceanside. It’s in a quiet residential area with ample parking I lovely backyard and patio. We happen to be there during their historical snowstorm. The owners and mermaids were very accommodating and concerned about our safety and warmth. Great attention To detail.. We would definitely go back.

  Our stay at Canty's Cottage was AWESOME! Mermaid Cottages were very prompt and efficient in providing all the information we required once we reached Tybee. Our "Mermaid" Denise was very helpful in assuring we had everything we needed to make our stay worry and stress free, a real vacation.
  The cottage was well equipment for our stay as well as immaculately cleaned. Mermaid did an excellent job in stocking the cottage for our arrival. This was the first time we have not had to go out and purchase trash bags etc, when we arrived and the coffee provide was excellant as well.
  The cottage itself was very comfortable with a great view and location. There was plenty of room for my wife and I as well as our sons and daughters who visited from Savannah for an evening get together.
  Many thanks to you Denise and Mermaid for a great action. We will definitely be back this fall.

  The grill is missing parts so it really can't grill; lava rock, pan to distribute the heat.
  The FL room sofa needs replacing as does the little Adirondack chair in the living room as well as the plastic outdoor table. I suggest a wood shower floor grate over the slick slanted shower floor in the spare shower. The owners were very sweet and kind and told us the history of Canty's Cottage. We loved it and had a wonderful time. Thank you so much.

  We were originally suppose to be renting another home, but it was damaged due to the recent hurricane, however, this company made it right by placing us in this FANTASTIC home! While the parents are unpacking, the little ones will have many areas to explore, and Mermaid Cottage HQ is just right across the street towards they inlet! Walk over to Alley Way to watch the sunset, and if you're lucky, you might get to meet a mermaid or two! I got to meet Sailor! What a sweetie! I loved the fact that I could see the water from my bedroom window! It's also just a short walk to AJ's Dockside for an amazing hamburger and stunning sunsets!

  The Mermaids are a Class Act. On arrival, Canty's Cottage was a little warmer than our little bulldog liked, we called and talked with Mermaid Linda and she was kind enough to send Steve over with a brand new fan and we had no other issues.
  Our time on Tybee was wonderful, our daughter flew in from San Diego and joined us for the week. It was just such a nice week to have good, quality family time. We kayaked to Little Tybee, saw dolphins and just enjoyed a relaxing week away from our ever day life. Thank you Mermaid Cottages for giving us this week to relax in such a quirky cottage, close to everything.
