Originally built in the 1930's as a fish camp, this very basic fish shack has been completely restored and decorated with wonderful regional and local art.

Tybee Tides has been featured in the Tybee Tour of Homes! The cottage sits directly across the street from the marsh with sunset viewing at its best. Tybee Tides is right in front of Fish Camp Cottage (we share a fence, even!) and A Shore Thing are behind us and two houses over, and is an ideal set-up for multiple families or groups of friends.

Tybee Tides was photographed for the book "Cottages". It sits directly across the street from the marsh with the loveliest screened-in front porch for relaxing and watching the sunset.

We have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and comfortably sleeps 7. Ride bikes around the island, kayak the Back River, take a marsh tour, or just walk to the beach and collect seashells. Sunsets on the front porch of Tybee Tides call for a glass of wine to compliment the spectacular view!

Finally was able to get a Tybee Tides booked for my cousins trip. We’ve been to Tybee for a relaxing laid back girls trip 2 x a year for the last few years. Everyone loved it!! House is so cozy and so welcoming! All of the special touches that the home owner has in this house are amazing. I’ve stayed her a few other times and i fine new things that I love each time.
THE PORCH.....this is the best part of the whole house. I wake up in the morning and go straight out with my coffee, watch the colors change on the marsh, and listen to the island wake up. This trip (in September) the yard was full of butterflies! It was beautiful.
THE SERVICE .... The mermaids excel again!!

The cottage was exactly as pictured on the website. The view of the marsh from the screen porch was very serene, and the sunsets beautiful. If you are the kind of beach-goer that likes to be right on the beach where all the action is, Tybee Tides is not for you. It is well out of the way of all the noise and commotion. The street it's on doesn't get any traffic, mostly just vacationers on bikes pedaling by. My only complaint is that the bath tub drain was dysfunctional. Management tried to fix it but was unsuccessful. Otherwise, the cottage was very clean and comfortable, and the property manager readily available. One of the best seafood restaurants in town, AJ's Dockside, is practically next door! All in all we had a wonderful stay and I'm considering renting this property again.

AMAZING! What a great trip and what an amazing cottage. Tybee Tides is such a cute cottage and with the Christmas decorations it is just that much better. My family came down and stayed at Tybee Tides and Fish Camp ( cottage right behind Tybee Tides). We spent tons of time on the porch - even when the earthier turned a little cold - for coffee, cocktails, and catching up.
Just walking in the door of a Mermaid Cottage immediately relaxes me and puts me in vacation mode.
The customer service from the Mermaids at Mermaid Cottages is what brings us back! I can’t imagine dealing with any other company.

Cottage was better than pictured. It was very clean and comfortable. It was a short walk to AJs bar and grill. Sat on the patio listening to wildlife in the mornings and had a great time walking the beach. Also short ride to Fort Pulaski where we had an excellent tour. Neighborhood is quiet and beds were very comfy. The place was stocked with everything we needed and communication with the landlord was super easy. We were given clear instructions, and they were so friendly and accommodating. Short ride into Savannah for shopping, restaurants, and watching the barges along the river. This trip was an old-ladies-get-away, and it couldn't have been better suited to us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place and stay here again.

We visit Tybee a couple times a year and always stay with Mermaid cottages. This was our second stay at Tybee Tides. Just perfect, we love it. No attention to detail spared. The front porch is where most of our time was spent and you can see the sunset from the porch. The outdoor shower attached to the master bath was the only shower I used! It was wonderful. We never turned on the TV and left the B&O radio tuned to the local station with great music drifting through the cottage the entire time.. just magical. You must rent a golf cart to get around the island and you wont have to pay any parking! Its also a great way to see the island, of course you can rent bikes too but some days are just too hot for that. We recommend the Tybee farmers market on Monday pm for wonderful stuff, including fresh authentic french pastries and bread just baked. We went to the beach off the alleyside and witnessed the most spectactual sunset I've ever seen. Our AC went out the first night at the cottage but was promptly fixed the next morning. Many servers at local restaurants seemed to have a disdain for guests on this visit we hadn't noticed before. The weather was perfect for the beach and the pavilion cant be bested by any beach anywhere...

This was our first family vacation to Tybee Island and the Tybee Tides was the perfect spot. We had a full house with seven of us and a dog. The cottage was sparkling clean and the kitchen had everything you need to cook big family meals. Two beautiful bathrooms which were clean and roomy. Honestly, not one of the seven of us took a shower inside though because the totally private hot/cold outdoor shower was so enticing. We all loved the outdoor shower!!! The yard is fully fenced and large enough for dogs to run around and explore. The screened in porch is a must and this porch was perfect! The cottage is right on the back river and the sunsets were spectacular. The cottage owners and managers have really thought of everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The AC is top notch, and we were actually super cold when we were inside. Tons of parking in the driveway and across the small street. The cottage was decorated with a beach theme but in a very tasteful way with lots of art and personal touches. I don’t think there was one critical comment made by any of us the whole time we were there. The Tybee Tides and the Mermaids will make you fall in love with the area and we will definitely be coming back for another vacation. Best vacation cottage ever!!!

This is our favorite cottage to stay at when we visit Tybee Island. The front porch was probably our favorite part of the trip, just relaxing with the lovely breeze in the mornings and evenings and watching the sunsets right from the porch! WE travel to many rentals during the course of a year and this is by far one of our new favorites. Ideal location away from the younger partying folks, wonderful sunsets, lots of water fowl, a near by restaurant that does carry out and dine in, a short walk to the beach, and well appointed home. Tybee Tides exceeded expectations in every respect! Not only is it as cute as can be, it's equipped with every comfort, was impeccably clean, and is in a magical location!
We hired a golf cart and rode around the island, critiquing architecture and location, remarking throughout that "our" cottage was superior, in all aspects. The peaceful marsh view, sunset orientation, quiet road, and proximity to (our favourite) South Beach, AJ's, and the IGA, all make the situation perfect.
The cottage's generous screened porch was our preferred space for reading, dining, and relaxing, although we also appreciated the generous yard and the private, peaceful situation of the outdoor shower.
We enjoyed cooking in the neat little kitchen, which is generously equipped with both utensils and attractive place settings.
A highlight of our vacation was a boat tour of Little Tybee Island with Captain René, of Sundial Charters. This is an experience not to be missed - a glimpse into the area, as God made it.
We will be sure to book Tybee Tides for our next Tybee vacation, and hope that shall be SOON!

First time visit to Tybee. Beautiful location on salt marsh for evening sunsets. House was clean and well appointed. Front porch was a bonus. We enjoyed breakfast on the porch every morning.
Neighborhood was quiet. Mermaid has a wonderful staff. Due to covid we did not eat at restaurants as much but the few we tried were good. Weather was HOT and HUMID !! Would love to visit again in fall.

We have rented from Mermaid Cottages for many years and have stayed at Tybee Tides for most of the time. The property is always well maintained and the mermaids keep the cottage pristine! I love how they check with you before you arrive and during your stay. We always reserve the house a year in advance and even though we were disappointed that it was already rented for the week of July 4th next year there is always another Mermaid Cottage available. We were able to extend our trip into a second week when the folks after us cancelled, and it was a game changer. We had such an amazing time at Tybee Tides over Memorial Day weekend! Family time spent riding bikes, sipping coffee on the beautiful porch and relaxing on the beach was just what we needed.

As always, the service provided by the Mermaids was excellent and the property was spotless! This was my 16th visit to Mermaid Cottages, between girls' trips and family trips, and I promise it won't be my last! In fact, my friend who had never been to Tybee took my recommendation and she and her husband rented a Mermaid Cottage the same weekend. They can't wait to visit again.

Thank you Mermaid Cottages for consistently providing excellent service and for being the setting of so many of our cherished family memories.

So, my family of 4 have been coming to Tybee for the past 7 years and have stayed in 6 different Mermaid Cottages, but never in one more than once ... Until 2020! Just got back Sunday from 5 days in Tybee Tides and yesterday reserved it for a full week next week. It is perfect for us and the sunset marsh view from the porch or from the den through the front door is awesome. The super close proximity to AJ's is key as we ate there 4 times during our stay. It's just the perfect little cottage for 4 or 5 folks and I don't think any of us took a shower anywhere else, but outside!! There is a sign that reads, "Never miss an opportunity to shower outside." A very true statement indeed. I highly suggest putting a small, low beach chair in the shower and sitting a spell. Anyway, so looking forward to coming back. Thanks Mermaids for another wonderful trip.

We have family in Savannah, so my family of four decided to stay at this property on Tybee over Christmas 2018. Wow. When we arrived, the cottage was decorated tastefully for Christmas, including a Christmas tree. It was like a Hallmark movie, and was totally unexpected. In addition, the real estate company contacted us by phone to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied. Not one single complaint. Service and the view of the marsh were over the top. We plan to stay here again on our next visit to our family in Savannah. The cottage is cozy with an elegant rustic feel -- perfect for cold weather or the summer.

We have been coming to Tybee for 11 years, and we have stayed in countless Mermaid Cottages. This one had all the features our family needed. The porch was our favorite spot in the place. I loved the master bedroom, and now I have requested for my husband to build me that amazing book case surrounding the bed. We lost my mom right before Christmas, and I had chosen this house for her. She had been coming to Tybee with us for years. She would have loved it. I can’t help but think that she was there with us. Thanks again for an amazing visit. This was our 3rd stay on Tybee Island and our best one to date! Previously we rented a lovely home on Officers Row and then an Ocean front condo. However, after staying marsh side in this beautiful and cozy cottage, we found beachside isn't the only "best side" on the Island. This property had wonderfully long and interesting views of the marsh (Horsepen Creek) located directly across a narrow and non-busy street. Gorgeous sunsets and moonlit evenings over the marsh created ambiance and post card views that we never would have experienced had we gone ocean side and not stayed at Tybee Tides. To "get our beach on" we were only a 10 minute walk/3 minute drive to the Back River Fishing Pier. It offered limited parking, a small bathroom and easy access to the beach where we enjoyed short walks to the inlet and longer walks along the ocean. We were sad to leave our new home away from home that offered us a charming and delightful stay. We will be sure to return to Tybee Tides and if it is booked, we will opt for another Mermaid Cottage as they were a dream to book with. Paperwork was promptly emailed, follow-up calls prior to and during our stay and an easy booking process. Denise was so kind and friendly and made us feel extra special as we celebrated my husband receiving the "Teacher of the year" award. :-) Tybee Tides and Mermaid Cottages is a winning combo for a great stay on the island.

This was our second visit to Tybee Tides. It just keeps getting better. We cannot imagine a more restful and well appointed home at this price.

Many vacation rentals feel as though they are designed and decorated by Rooms to Go. This one is a family's home that they share. And due to that, we, as guests, treat it with utmost respect and care, even taking time to reorganize the cookware and supply closet! OK. We are a bit OCD, but the point is that we enjoy it, we believe it to be a great value, and we want Mermaid and the owners to know that we respect their home as though it were our own.

Mermaid Cottage's staff are the best. They care about their guests and the properties they manage. Their consideration and thoughtfulness is a direct reflection of the quality of this house/home. We know many of the Mermaid staff by name and feel as though they are friends we visit when we make our annual trip to the coast. Of the many management companies we have encountered in cities and resort communities across the United States, these people are the finest. Trust them. Rely on them. Respect them. They give far more than any real estate management team we have ever done business with.

We will be back to Tybee Tides and Mermaid Cottages' care. There is no better testament to our appreciation and respect for this house, its owners, and its managers.

This is our third Tybee trip through Mermaid Cottages and we keep coming back for more. The Tybee Tide is so serene, with more bicycles and joggers than cars. The sunsets from the screened porch were breath taking. Beds comfy, beach decor perfect, as were all amenities.

We rented the cottage for 3 couples and one couple ended up not being able to come along. It was my husband and I, and my daughter and her boyfriend who stayed at the cottage. The front porch is positioned perfectly to watch the sunset over Tybee Creek. The cottage is nicely decorated and has everything you could want/need.... except extra toilet paper. Had the third couple been with us, we would have had to purchase TP to get us through our 2 night stay, which seems silly considering what we paid for our stay. It's a little thing, but not something I think we should need to be worried about while paying to stay somewhere. Other than that small issue, I have no complaints. There were a couple bikes there, so my daughter and her boyfriend were able to take a ride. It was nice to have a washer and dryer available for use. It really was a nice home away from home. We LOVE Tybee Island and were so happy to get to share it with our family. We really enjoyed Bubba Gumbo's for lunch. We did The Crab Shack, and we all enjoyed it, but it is very tourist oriented. We felt the seafood we got at Bubba Gumbo's was more tasty and better quality and not overcooked. We enjoyed shopping and time on the beach. Tybean is a must stop for me, excellent iced coffee every time. We will all recommend Mermaid Cottages to other.

Tybee Tides is in a beautiful location on the Marsh, fabulous sunsets. We loved the decorations, the porch, and the beds were comfortable. We rented a golf cart and the beach is just a short ride away. Everyone at Mermaid Cottages is so helpful. We will definitely be back!

All that needs to be said is that Tybee Tides was the BEST equipt rental property we have ever encountered. If I had ANYTHING close to a negative it would be that it could have been a bit cleaner (kitchen drawers, cabinets). My granchildren particularly loved the comfortable porch. Staff exceptional also. Girls trip to Tybee and Savannah. Cottage was perfect. Decor very cozy and quaint. Spent many mornings and evenings on porch watching the marsh and sunsets. Not alot of traffic. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved this house and felt some much peace and gratitude owners, hosekeeping, and of course the Mermaids. We spent Christmas here with my immediate family, had beautiful pictures done with our family. We sat on the porch, we had a lovely Christmas dinner catered by North Beach Bar and Grill. My brother, who is a tech geek, stayed fully connected to the excellent wifi. I can't imagine any place better on Tybee. Highly recommend this place

The house was so clean and beautifully decorated. It was so warm and inviting like staying in your own home verses a beach rental. It was just perfect for our family of 4. Tybee Tides was also a great location for us, we could easily walk to the beach and enjoy the beautiful views and sunsets on the marsh. Just perfect! The groundskeepers that came to water the plants were very sweet, letting us know about the beautiful strawberry moon rising from the ocean the one night and bringing a special treat for our youngest son who celebrated his 4th birthday while we were there. Made his day!! Thanks again for everything, Diane was fabulous to work with as well when I booked everything. We did a week in Disney before heading to Tybee, this was a huge and very special vacation for us and it did not disappoint! Thanks so much!!

Our visit was fantastic - great location, floor plan; we all loved the experience. Steve came and helped us with the grill (fresh grouper and grilled veggies!), walking to our fav AJs was 2 blocks, not a drop of rain, and though I blew out a flip flop, there were plenty to choose from in the shops. I have stayed in quite a few cottages on tybee, and this is my favorite.

This is my favorite get away space. It is large enough for my family of 4 (including 2 large teenage boys) and small enough to feel cozy. The master is adaptable for handicapped accessibility for my mom (our favorite girl trip destination) and Mermaids keep the space clean and no worries.

My vacation with the Mermaids was wonderful. The Tybee Tides house was spotless thanks to Rita and Nora and ever imaginable item that you would expect in your own kitchen/house was available for our use. Our Mermaid Jan went above and beyond to make our experience special. On derby day, she even stopped by with her golf cart fully decorated and offered to take us for a ride around town. What a beautiful place and a wonderful experience. My husband and I are looking forward to returning to Tybee in October. We will be sure to request Mermaid Jan again.

Five women stayed at Tybee Tides September 24-30, 2015: 3 sisters, a sister-in-law, and a close friend (our "chosen" sister), from Colorado, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Georgia. We loved the house! Sleeping accommodations were perfect for 5 people. The open area (living room, kitchen, dining area) was roomy and comfortable. The bathrooms had everything we needed, and the kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and utensils. We loved the screened porch with marsh sunset views! We did some cooking in the house and also enjoyed the many good restaurants on Tybee and in Savannah. We were within walking distance of the beach and the little shops on Tybee. The weather was predicted to be a washout, but the rain held off for most of our visit. The Mermaids were awesome! They answered our questions, even helping us manage the TV remotes (a challenge in any new place!). This was our 4th annual "Sisters' Reunion'" and Tybee Tides was a perfect place for us!

This was our first trip to Tybee Island and first time renting a cottage. Upon our arrival the outside looked great. The inside was spotless. We especially enjoyed morning coffee in the screened front porch. It's also a great place to view the evening sunset. It's just a short bike ride to the beach and local restaurants and shops. If we vacation again in Tybee, I would only reserve Tybee Tides.

We have repeatedly rented beach houses since 1990...3X from Mermaid Cottages. Our experience, they are the very BEST so far....could not ask for any better, more attentive service. We will return to them/their listings again & again.
"Tybee Tides" is beyond charming: decor=beach eclectic, cozy yet roomy, quaint, comfortable...and what a view! Games, DVDs, BOOKS(read those about Tybee)=all there. Tybee info= all there. Comfortable bedding, many, many pillows, great linens, plush towels, hangers, well stocked kitchen, plentiful ice, filtered water=all there. Great AC, water pressure, hot water=all there. Clean, impeccably CLEAN...& not one bug! Lovely, shaded yard w privacy...our ex-racer, TD greyhounds loved the space. Safety concerns of flashlights, first aid=all there. Bonus=on site beach buggy wagon to tote stuff onto beach.
Personal: we loved the screened porch/marsh view; granddaughters (7 & 10)
read all the decor plaques (loved "Beach Your Children Well"); vegetated on the inlet beach=dolphins & small jumping fish appeared every day. Our fav eateries: Sundae Cafe & 80 Gastro Pub (both=same owner) good portions, inventive tasty cuisine & AJ Dockside- walkable, great view, entertainment & food; disappointed in a past fav Wylie's BBQ=very small portions, over-priced.
Limited touring= did a trolley tour, walked Savannah but mostly enjoyed decompressing on beach & on front porch. Will see more in each of our return trips. A memorable vacation here=worth repeating.
If we owned this cottage, we would never leave.
Highly recommend....a GEM.

My experience with Mermaid Cottages is always perfect! I rent 1-2 times/year and I change up the rental properties. Every time I come to visit, the places are clean, well-stocked and in a great location. I have to say, I believe Tybee Tides circa is my favorite so far. I love the view and the layout of the house. I think of this home as being a great set-up for retirement!

I'm in the process of starting up my own business so funds are a little tight...I'm driven to get my salary back up so I can continue these vacations!!

The porch is ideal for eating or just relaxing and watching the bike riders go by or the sunset over the marsh. Following pictures show more great views of this porch; you will spend LOTS of time out here!!

This Screen porch overlooks Venetian Drive and the marsh. Sunsets are perfection itself. We are constantly updating and improving the screen porch. We always have lots of seating including table and chairs for dining on the porch.

The living room features a HD TV with DVD/CD player and I-Pod stereo dock. The front doors overlook the screened porch and marsh.

The front room is actually a combination of the living room, dining room ( seats 6) and open kitchen. There is also a bar with counter seating. Very open, airy and charming. This room also leads to the front screened porch.

The dining room/living room area also leads right into the kitchen. Open and spacious and equipped with everything you need to cook and create.

Even the lighting is delightful in this sweet home!

The master bedroom has windows on all sides with great views of the backyard and garden.

This bedroom was featured in the book "Cottages". The master bedroom has a separate full bathroom with an entrance to the backyard and private outdoor shower with hot and cold water.

The best sleep on this bed after a relaxing day at the beach!

The king bed bedroom features a full bath, which also leads to the outside private shower with hot and cold water and fenced in garden and yard. There is a HD TV with CD/DVD player as well. Bookshelves are filled with books.

This bright and cheerful bedroom features one twin bed and one queen bed.
