  We had a great experience at Sandy Toes Mermaid Cottages. Everything was as expected. There were 8 of us who came to celebrate my husband's 73rd birthday. He had recently died and we wanted to get away to celebrate. The cottage was ideal, clean and convenient to everything. Short walk to the beach, even for a 71 year old like myself. We had a little mishap at the cottage while we were there and the management (Tammy) was great about it. We will definitely visit again! Loved Tybee Island!

  We had a great time. Just to note they do allow pets in the property so we found dog hair and the couch in the living room smelled like dog. We didn’t bring any pets cause it is an added fee. Other than that it was nice and a short walk to the beach. I also found out you can save money if you book direct with Mermaid Cottages Definitely a cute quaint beach house.

  We (two couples) stayed a week in Sandy Toes and had a great time. The home is a short walk to the beach and easy access to local sights and restaurants. The house was clean and well-maintained.
  My husband and I have stayed at several Mermaid Cottages in the past and have always been pleased with their customer service. This year was no exception. They went out of their way to make sure that medical supplies that our guests had shipped were in the house waiting for them. I can't thank the Mermaids enough for making that an uneventful part of the process.
  I would definitely recommend this property again - or any Mermaid Cottage for that matter.
  We checked out the lighthouse and Tybee museum and the new Marine Center on Tybee. We'll be coming back next year with our kids and grandkids and expect to go back with them. We also drove out to Pin Point Museum and Bonaventure and enjoyed lunch at the Driftaway Cafe. In addition to hitting up some of our favorite eateries from years past - Crab Shack, Coco's, Creek Side, and Northside Bar and Grill, we found a couple of new to us places. Our first time at Sunrise, Sundae Cafe, and Cockspur Grill did not disappoint. But, the highlight had to be Pier 16 for excellent food, service, and ambiance. The upper deck was full and a little breezy when we were there (early March), but the dining room inside was a pleasant change. While still casual, it had less of the 'beachy' decor of other places.
  Then, of course, we enjoyed walking on the beach and lounging in the sun every day!

  This is a great property. The location is convenient to the beach, the marsh, the IGA, the YMCA, and several excellent restaurants.   We loved this spot on Tybee Island! Our original vacation plans were uprooted due to a hurricane in the gulf, luckily this spot was available and the hosts were extra accommodating. It’s a short walk to the beach, or you can rent a golf cart and get anywhere in a matter of minutes! We were even able to bring our dog! The tile floor was easy to clean up, and the fenced in back yard was perfect! The swing in the back yard was definitely a favorite spot for the weekend. Definitely looking to come back to this spot next summer!

  We certainly did enjoy your cottage. Some properties there could use some assistance. No complaints with your property. One suggestion would be to install grab bars in the main shower. But over all we would love to visit again. The cottage was most accommodating, clean, well supplied. Most most the staff we communicated with were timely and very friendly. Good job to all. The one couch could use some new cushions, particularly for old buns like mine.

  We enjoyed our stay despite Covid restrictions on the island. This cottage was cute and in a convenient location, but if we visit Tybee again we will probably pick a different place. The living room furnishings weren’t comfortable at all and need updating . The back deck is nice, but we never used it because it was covered with some type of sap. Investing in a screened deck would be an asset for the homeowner. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor shower , especially the fact that is has cold and hot water. The AC kept us cool and the washer and dryer were nice. We rented a golf cart and it was a short drive to a quiet area of the beach. All in all it was a decent little place. It just needs a bit of TLC to make it a super little place!

  I booked Sandy Toes cottage with my sister, and this is our 2nd stay at a Mermaids property.. and it won't be our last! The booking process is friendly and easy, and we always feel like we're part of the Mermaids family! We brought along my 13 month old niece this time, and Sandy Toes was a kid-friendly place to stay: spacious, tidy, and so comfortable! Small issues upon arrival were resolved immediately by the Mermaids team - sandy sheets were quickly replaced; an ice chest full of ice was immediately delivered to support a fridge with fluctuating temps (and all done in a way that worked around the baby's naps!) We faced a 12-hour commute home, and the Mermaids were kind enough to allow us a late checkout to allow a tired baby one more nap! We felt right at home, and can't wait to return! Would definitely book this cottage again!

  I spent the week of July 4th with my family in the Sandy Toes cottage, and we comfortable housed my entire group. The only couple of qualms I had was getting both calls and texts leading up to the day we were to check in (in addition to having the app downloaded as well as emails about check in, this seemed like overdoing it) felt a bit incessant. Additionally, the door leading from the 2 double bed room into the kitchen is a sliding door that makes an awful racket when there is any kind of use with it. I brought ear plugs and could still hear it whenever someone came in and out (which as this room is adjoined to the trundle bed room, it is necessary to use the door quite a bit!) Otherwise, the stay was perfect and we loved it. The outdoor shower was fantastic, we loved having a washer and dryer on site, and there were even beach toys to utilize! Overall, I'd absolutely stay again.

The fenced in yard was very important to us since we have 2 Shelties. It was very private. There’s a park nearby and you can walk to restaurants and for ice cream. Cafe Sundae had awesome food. We also enjoyed CoCo’s. It’s only 20 minutes to Savannah. I would highly recommend this cottage. Mermaid Cottages employees were very helpful. We would love to stay there again

  We came down to pick up my son’s girlfriend from SCAD for her summer break. We decided to spend a week on Tybee and make a vacation out of the trip.We couldn’t have been happier with our cottage rental, everything was very convenient with perfect amenities and a relaxing, clean and well-maintained space to stay in. It was just a short walk to the beach everyday, and we were happy to have a full working kitchen and grill so that we could eat in rather than go to restaurants during our entire stay. Definitely would stay in a Mermaid rental again! Very very happy!

    We love that you got to know Sandy Toes. It is super close to the beach ~ 'technically' it's "3 blocks", but folks, most of those are "Tybee blocks", which means they're only 2 houses long, then the last block is about 4-5 houses. So 'technically' you're about a city block to the beach. So there is your Tybee Lesson for the day. No quizzes. ~ Jennifer & the Mermaids

  We had a very nice stay at Sandy Toes. The cottage was quite roomy and was well equipped. The setup was great also, with essentially 2 bedroom suites separated by the main living space. The bright colors and beachy decor created a homey, relaxed atmosphere. The beach was only about a 10’ walk away. Stores and restaurants were an easy walk away also. The lack of sidewalks on the way made it a little awkward but the light traffic on the back roads was a plus. The only negative was we lost the AC for about 12 hrs. but guest services took care of it in a pretty timely manner. It also lacked beach gear except for a few rusty chairs but in fairness, they made no claim to have such. Overall, we loved Sandy Toes and would highly recommend it.

The kitchen space was well equipped, the main bedroom being separated from the others was a plus! We enjoyed grilling, and letting our pups play in the backyard. Close proximity to the grocery store, the park, about 5 blocks to the beach, and about a 7 minute drive to the local coffee shop (very eclectic!). Would stay here again!

  Sandy Toes was a great cottage for my family. The house was full of bright colors, great space for the four children, and a quiet location.   My family had a great time at a Sandy Toes, with two exceptions. The management company was very communicative, and extremely responsive. The property was clean, it was clear the home was well cared for. I liked that the bedrooms are on opposite sides of the living room, which added to privacy. A MAJOR problem was the mattress in the master bedroom. It was very bumpy and uncomfortable, clearly old an in need of replacement. A rough sleep each night dampened our stay. Additionally the back yard is rampant with poison ivy. I am so happy the neighbors took the time to let us know as we had two young children playing outside regularly. Those two issues need immediate attention. Other than that, the home is a short distance from the beach on a quiet street. Could be a great place to stay!

  We absolutely loved staying at Sandy Toes. There were plenty of beds and the kitchen was fully stocked for all of our snacking needs (we ate all meals out). The seating area was big enough for all of us to hang out and spend time together. We definitely used the beach towels and sand proof blankets left for us! Only recommendations - 2 mirrors are NOT enough for 8 girls to get ready with. Also, the quality and quantity of towels can always be improved!

  This place was lovely. From the fenced in back yard (to corral the little's) yard swing, outdoor shower, comfortable furnishings, and most important to me, it was clean. It was so nice to have a place to fix food, and put grandchildren down for naps that it made it super nice. Cottage was nicely equipped. My family kept telling me I hit a home run renting this place. Five minute short walk to the beach. We had to drive down to the downtown part where all the shops were, but that wasn't an issue. It was quiet and I felt safe. I enjoyed the cable tv and wireless internet as well. Nice parking as well. Also about 16 minutes drive to Historic Downtown Savannah. There was a nice playground about 2 blocks down for little kids also.

  It was our first time in the area. The cottage was cute and clean, walkable distance to the beach, and the locals were all unusually friendly. We did end up with an issue with the cottage and when I called the property management company they had someone out to fix it within minutes even though it was a Sunday night.   Before I review the property, I have to begin by saying that I have never had better customer service than Mermaid Cottages - hands down. We were traveling with our three children - including our 6-week-old - and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They even delivered an heirloom rocking chair so we could make it through the dreaded "witching hour." They touched base with us several times to make sure we had everything we needed and were available to answer any questions.
  
  We were incredibly pleased with our visit to Sandy Toes. The home was comfortable and the perfect layout for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed and all the furnishings were top notch - no scratchy towels, cheap furniture or dollar store kitchen goods. It's clear that attention was paid to ensure guests truly feel at home at Sandy Toes.
  
  The only downfall of the property was the number of mosquitos. However, after having lived in Savannah for several years, we expected this given the rain and proximity to the water and planned accordingly.
  
  We will certainly be visiting Sandy Toes again!

  Surprised to find the cleaning folks there at 4:00 on Sunday afternoon. Received a call while driving in asking what the problem was w/the grill -- hadn't even seen the grill yet. House was in good shape and clean. Good for children & grandchildren. Cockroaches in the small bedroom in the evening. Clogged toilet and no plunger - called the service number and someone was there within 30 minutes. Overall, it was a good place that we all enjoyed. Easy walk to the beach.

  My family of 8 spent a wonderful 4th of July weekend at Sandy Toes cottage. Upon arrival, we noticed the air conditioning was not working. The Mermaids got to work immediately and had someone out to fix the AC by the end of the day. The cottage was spotless, had everything I needed to cook 3 meals a day for my six kids, and allowed us to be very comfortable for 4 days. We liked the location of the cottage and it was an easy walk to and from the beach each day.

Should bring bug spray and/or citronella if not provided. Kitchen well stocked. Having the cute patio screened would make it ideal. I would recommended putting rubber pad under the throw rugs to prevent slipping.

  My husband,Jim,my mother and I spent 3 days at Sandy Toes cottage including New Year's and New Year's day.The always incredible Jan handled our reservation as a last minute request. Everything was spotless and ready for us.Sandy Toes is colorful and cheery,with a split bedroom plan so that we could be near my elderly mother, but also have some privacy. My mother wanted "home-cooking", so we made a New Year's feast for her. We really enjoyed the fact that the kitchen had many basic items such as silver ware,a complete set of dishes/pots and knives and not-so-basic items such as plastic wrap, aluminum foil, salt/pepper, oil, paper towels,hand towels, hand and dishwasher detergent as well as a blender and coffee set up.This cottage is a half block from a large public park, where I enjoyed walking with Theo, out Jack Russell mix pup. This visit was centered on spending time with my Mom, as she is elderly and spends most of her time inside. We really appreciated the games, TVs in the LR and both bedrooms and also having 2 full bathrooms. The master br has a hydro-jet/ jacuzzi style tub which was great for out travel weary bones! there are sitting areas outside in the front,and on the deck or old-fashioned swing in the backyard.There is even a fire pit for winter nights. I was able to get my mom out on New Year's Day and we both really enjoyed a ride around the island to view the Holiday lights. A stop at the famous Sugar Shack for a cone was included. My Mom and I grew up in Savannah and really appreciate how Tybee Island has become a true upscale tourist destination. Mermaid cottages has provided us with excellent service and a lovely experience overall. I recommend them to anyone looking for a coastal/beach escape and don't forget to ask for Jan. My Mom hasn't stopped talking about her stay and I look forward to a return visit in the summer of 2015.

  Our familiy wanted to visit Savannah over the holidays and, with a baby and a dog, we chose to stay in this Tybee cottage. It was cute, clean, and mostly comfortable for our group. The beds were the one area that could stand to be upgraded for more comfort. Although it wasn't great beach weather, we enjoyed our stay at Sandy Toes and some of the area restaurants (Crab Shack, North Beach Bar and Grill, Sundae Cafe, and Social Club).
