What a charming beach cottage! From the polka dotted shutters to the back porch to the comfy and cozy feeling everywhere in the cottage, you'll just want to snuggle in and relax! Pets of all sizes are welcome; the backyard is fully fenced and has lots of running and playing space!

The back yard has a picnic table and swing so you can enjoy the morning sunrise over the marsh. The marsh also has plenty of birds to watch for those of you who love birding! The home is located on Lewis Avenue which is a family friendly street. The beach is a 15 minute walk - either walking down Lewis to 6th Street or walking down Butler Avenue. Don't forget to look for the beach sayings that Leonard the Sandman has painted on the walls in the cottage.

Madelyn's on the Marsh was perfect for us. The neighborhood was quiet and convenient for everything we wanted to do. The yard was spacious for my dog and it was nice to have a marsh view. I was extremely satisfied with my stay at Mermaids cottage Madelyn's on the Marsh on Lewis Ave. The cottage was in great cottage and satisfied all of our needs. Mermaids owner Diane and agent Tammy could not have been nicer. We had no issues but they still checked several times to make sure everything was good. They even offered to let us stay a few extra days at no charge which was outstanding and very appreciative!!Mermaids is an outstanding rental company and I would recommend them to everyone. We will rent in the future with Mermaids.

This was our second stay at Madelyn's it felt like coming home. Most of our time was spent in Savannah but we prefer to lodge on Tybee. The drive through the marsh is soothing and the point where all cars slow to 35 is a great reminder to slow down and take it all in. We like the comfort of this cottage, the super friendly cat next door and the fact we can pack light since a washer/dryer is available. It has been a magnificent stay here at Madylen's On the Marsh. We love the location, the yard, the sweet comfy coziness of our cottage. It is great to sit in the swing chair every morning and listen to the birds and watch the marsh. There is enough room to have a few guests. Tammy (and Lauren)have been the best at helping us with everything at anytime of the day or night. We are so happy to have another month at the Cottage.
My only suggestion is to do a better and more thorough deep clean before the next guests arrive in March. Mold in all the windowsills and in the bathroom need to be taken care of. I discover things from the previous guests underneath the dressers and behind the washer. I suggest moving things a bit to do a thorough deep clean.
Otherwise, everything is fantastic.

Everything about my stay was wonderful. My cottage was perfect. The description was spot on. The property was very clean and well-maintained. We encountered only two small problems: lack of toilet paper and a plumbing problem in the toilet. Both issues were taken care of within a couple of hours so I would grade the customer service as excellent. I would definitely recommend this place or any other Mermaid property to my family and friends. I was on Tybee for my annual Thanksgiving family reunion and this property was just a few doors down from my sister's place so it was quite convenient. Really didn't do much in the way of Tybee attractions because most of our time was spent hanging out with family but we did have dinner one night at my favorite Tybee restaurant StingRays and it did not let me down.

This was our second stay at Madelyn's, and our fourth (but will not be the last!) with the Mermaids. As always, the provide a superlative experience, from the booking through the stay. The location a great base of operations for heading to the beach, or exploring the sights and tastes that the Savannah area affords. We were able to "move in" without fuss and start our vacationing immediately. Time spent at the beach, on a nature cruise (with Crab Creek Charters), and dining at Fannies, the Cockspur Grill, The Creek House and other restaurants allowed us to untie some knots in our collective ropes. The rental was very cute and cozy. We had everything we needed to enjoy the stay - even some kites! The washer and dryer were a great plus as we wrapped up our week in the Savannah area. Read the rental description so we knew that we would need to bring our own bath soaps which was fine after collecting various hotel soaps in advance during our stays but having a few bars there would be a nice touch for future renters. We wish we would have read about palmetto bugs in the binder before leaving a bowl of dip in the sink to soak over night before washing - as we had one doing the back stroke in the bowl in the morning. Lots of biting ants in the yard but goes with the territory. Lots of great communication from the Mermaids. Thanks!

Cute cottage. Perfect place for someone who needs to get away for a few day or for a couple. The yard swing facing the marsh and the screened in porch are the best part of this cottage. Disappointed with cookware provided - bought a small skillet and sauce pan at Kroger to use during stay.

This is a charming property with an exceptional marsh view with a wonderful swing overlooking it. The communication was great before and during our stay. The house was very clean. I love the mermaid coffee they leave for you. There were no soap products and the towels/washcloths are very thin. Otherwise, a great stay!

Great little cottage. We especially enjoyed the well fenced backyard that looks out over the marsh. It’s a quick walk to cafes, restaurants and the beach on the quieter north side of the island. There is a nature path right next door. Nothing fancy, but a cozy and well maintained cottage.

Mermaid Cottages is my go-to rental company on Tybee Island. This was my first time staying at Madelyns. It is a snug, cute little cottage. It is a close walk to mid-beach and souvenir shops. The bedrooms are a good size for a 2-bedroom Perfect for small families or couples. The bathroom is very small, and the bathtub isn't in great condition. The shower is just Okay, next time I will try the outdoor shower. Great fenced in yard for dogs, beautiful marsh view.

Our stay with Mermaid cottages was amazing! The lady that helped me was fantastic. She even had me be able to text her once I arrived with any questions I had. Simple questions like where is the closest grocery, which beach is closest to the cottage. Where is the best places to do shopping. She even told me what style of shopping was in each shopping place she told me about. And she was right I found some real gems in the shops that looked like those standard tourist trap sort of souvenir shops. But I was able to find some great deals and some good stuff.

The cottage itself was fantastic. It was super clean and the A/C for the unit worked perfectly. We were able to stay cool and even had to raise the temperature on the thermostat because it worked so well.

The cottage is within walking distance to two really good souvenir shops.And if you aren't lugging a bunch to the beach really close to mid beach for a walk as well.

Overall we loved our stay and plan on coming back for a longer stay next summer.

This is the fourth time we have stayed at Madelyn's on the Marsh. This is a small but immaculate cottage on a marsh in a quiet neighborhood. There is no need to bring anything but food to this well equipped kitchen. Linens and beach towels are provided and the washer and dryer eliminate trips to the laundromat for those sandy clothes from your beach excursions. Add in a friendly, responsive support staff and you have a great combination a vacation rental.

This was a fifth trip vacationing with the Mermaids ans we will definitely be back next year. We especially enjoy Madelyn because of the central location. We pull in the driveway and rarely get the car until it is time to go home. We are avid walkers which works well for us because we also love the wonderful restaurants: Sunday Cafe, Huck-a-poo, Agave, Salt Island Cafe. Big shout to Diane who allowed us to stay another day so we could go to the Beach Bum Parade. Shout out to Eric & Emily of the Salt Island Cafe who allowed to reload our water cannons in front of their restaurant.

We loved the cottage. Everything we needed was there and then some, it was very clean and extremely comfortable. There was a glitch with the WIFI wherein the info on our greeting card was not quite right--the username required a capitalized first letter and this was not shown in the note. Also, the TV, the Phillips remote for the living room was actually in the bedroom. These were minor once I figured it out. Otherwise, it was delightful having coffee on the back porch in the am and wine in the pm at the swing and porch. We really enjoyed our stay and were sorry to leave. We liked the location on the North end as well!! We definitely recommend Sundae's--the best food we had on Tybee, and the coffee shop in the same strip mall was very good--tasty donuts too. Recommend Lighthouse for pizza.

This was our fifth spring in Tybee and Madelyn's on the Marsh was the fifth cottage we've stayed in. The Mermaid staff contacted us a day before check-in and right after we arrived to see if everything was okay--they provide great personal service. The cottage is on a quiet road with what seems to mostly be full-time locals, so there was basically no tourist traffic, but it is a bit of a walk to the beach, though we would stay there again and put up with the extra walking in order to have the privacy of the quiet back yard. For future renters: take Mermaid's warning about the island's fleas seriously and be prepared.

Tough review to write. Before seeing the cottage we drove on to Tybee and quickly knew this was not the place for us. Crowded, dirty, noisy, no parking, horrible food, few restaurants, no shopping, and I was actually frightened at the little IGA which was dirty and full of scary people. Got cursed out by the parent of a shoeless child for misplacing my cart but I was trying to get out of there quickly before something happened. I would not even let my son go into the store. The cottage was sweet and clean and the staff were so kind and understanding. The street was quiet as well. We did use it as home base a few nights when I baracaded the doors and made sure the windows were locked but ultimately left to stay in Savannah. Given the cost I would have expected much more from the island and the house though I would also say the house needs new towels and sheets. If Tybee island is your place though, I would say Mermaid Cottages would be my choice- especially because of the staff.

  Thank you for your review. We never hide reviews, even reviews that are hard to read. Tybee is not for everyone. We have always been an island where all economic levels come and enjoy the beach. We have many day visitors - who can't afford to rent a hotel or a cottage- but still want to come and enjoy time together as a family or group of friends at the beach. We certainly understand that this was not a place for you to enjoy, but we still have thousands of visitors every year who come and mix and mingle with everyone who loves the beach, find great food, lots of fun things to do and most importantly- create memories that last a life time. This was our 4th trip to Tybee but only the 3rd time we stayed at Madelyn on the Marsh. Last year we had to stay at another Mermaid Cottage due to flooding from the hurricane. Although that cottage was just as cute and cozy, we couldn't wait to return to Maddy. Improvements did not disappoint. Of course, every room was repainted, some new furniture, appliances and landscaping. Everything was selected by the mermaids for comfort, utility and charm. This last visit to Madelyn was like coming home. We can't wait until next year.

We enjoyed our stay overall, we stayed here last year, clean and close to the beach, nice fenced backyard for our dogs. Only complaint is the master king bed needs to be replaced, sags and is way too soft, had backache from it in the mornings, we switched to twin beds, which were fine and backache went away. For people with so-so backs, like mine, this was important, will likely stay here again, especially if king bed is replaced. Also good service from Mermaid Cottage's people!

My wife's BFF Terry visits us in South Carolina every year. Last year we thought a side trip to Tybee would be fun and we liked our stay at Madelyn's on the Marsh so much, we booked it again this year. This cottage is ideal for the three of us. The property is well maintained and has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location makes for easy biking to all the attractions we wanted to visit. There is no doubt we will back next time we want a relaxing get away on a unique and friendly island.

This cottage was perfect for us and is also pet-friendly! It's in a great location and there are beautiful marsh views from the backyard and screened-in porch! We can't wait to come back!

Quite good. Cottage could use a little deferred maintenance done, i.e. vents(big one in living room ceiling hanging down), sticking doors, fan in bathroom. In winter would be nice to have rug by bed. Also would be nice to have TV channels listed in the book left on the coffee table. But it was clean and cozy and, as has been my past experience, the Mermaids were wonderful.

This was my second trip to Tybee, but our first in a house rather than a hotel and this is the way to go. The ladies at Mermaid Cottages were great from start to finish. Our cottage was adorable, clean and perfectly beach-ey and we felt right at home from the beginning. Furniture was comfortable and well kept. My son loved loved loved using the outdoor shower (as did we) and my personal favorite part was the screened in porch. I also loved that this property was near the beach (15 minute walk or 5 minutes on a golf cart), close enough but far enough away from the boardwalk to enjoy the peace and quiet. We will be returning to Tybee again and booking through Mermaid Cottages for future stays. Thank you for your attention to detail, we loved the fresh flowers left on our kitchen table and appreciated the call to check that we were comfortable and had everything we needed once we had checked in!It's hard to find that kind of friendly customer service these days.

We had a wonderful stay at Madelyn's on the Marsh. The description was accurate, in fact it exceeded our expectations. It seems some updates to the décor have been made since the photos were taken. The property was extremely clean and well maintained. The location was great, in a quiet residential neighborhood, but close to everything. Guest services provided exceptional customer service. Linda called us to make sure that everything was to our liking. The fresh flowers were a really nice touch. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend. We spent most of our time at the beach and a couple of days in Savannah exploring the city.

i live downtown savannah and used to work for a vacation rental company on tybee. so, i was diappointed that the advertised price for the houes was $125/night, but i was charged an additional $79 for management. it is common to be charged for taxes and cleaning, but a management fee should be included in the nightly rate. additionally, i was contacted by the management company and asked to rent the house for the monday night before my three night visit and told that they normally rent for a seven day minimum. again, they advertised a 3-night minimum and had already rented the unit for friday, saturday, and sunday. simply a bad business idea to request that after accepting my full payment and my old rental agency would have been happy to have someone come in on off nights when they had already rented unit for weekend. on a positive note, cute house, fully equipped (inlcuding bu spray-thank god) and on quiet side of island. enjoyed my stay. thanks

This little cute place had everything we needed. Very well taken care of and super clean. Beautiful yard with a great view to the marsh. We had so much fun hanging out on the back screened in porch too. Washer and dryer was such a plus since we were at the beach. It was awesome to have those amenities. My wife's BFF visits us in Charleston every year. We thought a vacation within her vacation would be something unusual this year. We had heard good things about Tybee Island so we researched the options and found Madelyn's on the Marsh to be a good sounding option. We had rented beach cottages at other locations previously but were delighted that this choice exceeded our high expectations.

The cottage was pet friendly and well located on a quiet side street. The property was well maintained with many thoughtful amenities and clever decorations. The three bouquets of fresh flowers provided by the cleaning staff underscored the welcoming feeling we experienced upon arrival. If a visit to Tybee is on your agenda, you want to give careful consideration to this and other Mermaid properties as the attention to detail and value is superior.

We will visit Tybee in the future and return to two restaurants for sure. We liked the upscale Sundae Cafe and the more casual CoCo's Sunset Grill. We would also rent bikes again as the island is small enough and laid out to accommodate this option.

Madelyn's on the marsh was a very comfortable, well stocked cottage. Located on a safe street just minutes away from the down town Pier and shops. There was a beach just a few minute walk away that was completely empty! Kayaking was just a few minute drive, but be conscious of the current and tides. Conditions sometimes are not for beginners. All in all the cottage and location was fantastic! thank you Madelyn's on the Marsh!

This was our second stay at Madelyn's, and we had a wonderful time. Nice location away from the crowds but an easy walk to the beach. The cottage makes you feel at home. We had our dogs with us, and the backyard worked out nicely for them. We missed out on the dog biscuits and tags, but we didn't bother calling for them.

We try to get to Tybee every year. I just love it there. The people are nice and the beach is wonderful. We had to wait till fall to vacation this year because of work and worried if it would be enjoyable because of weather. It was sunny every single day. Gorgeous (yes you will still get a tan) :) We have stayed at Madelyn's many times. Wouldn't stay with anyone but the Mermaids! They keep a clean cottage and supply you with everything you'll need. You bring your clothes and food. The rest is there. We rent bikes and park our vehicle and don't get back in it until we go home. Its a short trip to the beach. I ride a bike, takes 3 minutes??? Madelyn's is on the North end of the Island, its quiet and peaceful. I always go home relaxed and sun kissed! I think we enjoyed October more than any other month we have visited Tybee. No rain, sun every day and perfect weather. 75-80 degrees every day! And a plus, all the crowds have gone home. We had the beach to ourselves! From the time you make the reservation until you leave everything runs like a well oiled machine. They do all the work, you just show up and enjoy. No one is knocking on the door every morning trying to clean and disturb your peace. They leave you alone (of course unless you call them and in that case they will be there as soon as you call to assist in whatever you'd need) We don't vacation anywhere else, and if we had any sort of chance or luck, we would retire on Tybee or at least as close as we could get immediately. Madelyn's and Tybee are my happy place. I probably sound like I work for them lololol I don't, I drive all the way from the Midwest once a year to visit because I love it so. Tybee is a best kept secret! If you decide to visit, you would love any of the cottages. I know we have! We will be back. See you in 2016! You want Southern Hospitality? When we arrived the lock box was difficult to use. I contacted management but nothing was ever done. I was disappointed in the location, the neighborhood was kind of rough. We enjoy Tybee Island but the parking meter situation is ridiculous. Only restaurant on the island that we liked was The Breakfast Club.

Lewis Ave the street your cottage is on is the home to many of our locals as well as vacation rentals. Our school teachers, our police, our hair dressers, several of our realtors all live on this street. This is also the street where we have the world's best Halloween trick or treating! Channing Tatum ( of Magic Mike XXL fame) and his family trick and treated while they were here last October filming the movie. But Tybee is not for everyone and Lewis Ave is not for everyone. We also have year round parking to help our island cover the cost of Life Guards, Police and fireman to name a few. We encourage bike riding which never requires parking metors! I'm sorry we didn't respond to your call about the lock box. We will follow up with our guest services team to see what happened with the lock box. So dissapointed with the weather while we were on Tybee:(
The house was ok except the back screen door cut my husband's hand because of the way someone but the screen on the door.
We also couldn't rent a golf cart because there wasn't an outlet in the front of the house .
Plus, having to take our dog outside at night there was not a light in the back yard anywhere except on the screen porch which was only a bug light .
A peep hole on the front door would have been nice to have,too
The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped .

Madelyn's on the Marsh has all the acroutements needed for a relaxing visit to the beach. The grounds and house are amazing. Comfortable beds and an outdoor shower are superb. The only suggestion I have is a little more TLC on the slipcovers, bedspreads and shower tiles. The linens and slipcovers were dirty (not with untreatable stains either). The bath and shower tiles could have used a good scrub. Minor details but it would have been more acceptable if I hadn't been charged a cleaning fee of $100. The dust bunnies under the twin beds were friendly so I ignored them...
